PROFILE:
Michael Roberts
Michael Roberts currently manages PARC’s collaborative virtual environments project, and is a member of PARC's ubiquitous computing team. Previously, he worked on the backend architecture for the DNP-PARC "Magitti" mobile recommender system.
Prior to coming to PARC, Michael worked with number of new media and entertainment companies, including Ur Studios, where he was Chief Technology Officer and architect of the GEL distributed virtual reality system. Before that, he managed the Graphical User Interface Technology Group at Progress Software. He has contributed to a number of pieces of commercial software, including Kinetix Hyperwire and GEL.
Dr. Roberts obtained his Ph.D. from London’s City University, where he worked in the area of parallel computing, visual programming, and graph theory.
