Sasha Tuganov

Sasha Tuganov's research activities are focused on metamaterials design, analysis, testing, and applications in microwave engineering. He is currently working on microwave and lidars in transportation and security applications; antenna designs; analog and power systems designs; electromechanical, fluid mechanical, optomechanical, and precision mechanical designs; and designs for renewable energy systems.

Prior to joining PARC, Sasha was a senior staff engineer at KLA-Tencor, Inc. for semiconductor test equipment and optomechanical design and at New Focus, Inc. for electro-optics, optomechanics, precision mechanics, and motion control systems design. He also previously held positions at Maple Optical Systems, Inc. as a senior staff mechanical engineer for mechanical and power systems design for electrical and optical network routers/switchers and at Procket Networks as a senior manufacturing engineer for transferring network router design to manufacturing.

Sasha received his MSEE from Moscow Power Engineering University and an additional MSEE from Murmansk Maritime Academy. He has received the Laser Focus industry achievement award, and he has 11 publications and 14 patents.

Sasha lives in Redwood City with his wife and enjoys engineering, boating, fishing, travelling, reading, and training his dog.
