Chief Technology Officer, Cloud and Big Data Futures
Surendra Reddy is the Chief Technology Officer, leading the technology, direction, and architecture design for cloud and big data futures across PARC. He also defines and oversees overall implementation, creating cloud and big data strategies with a focused portfolio of technologies that are aligned with emerging trends and business and commercialization opportunities.
Prior to PARC, Surendra served as the General Manager and CTO for SIOS Technology group companies, where he was responsible for defining global cloud strategy and guiding the 200+ strong engineering organization with the technology direction and innovation programs. Before this, he was Vice President of Virtualization and Cloud R&D at Yahoo!, developing a company-wide cloud strategy to increase the operational efficiencies of data centers and reduce operational cost by 20 percent in first two years and up to 50 percent in the third year. Prior to joining Yahoo, he was the CTO and VP of Engineering at Amitive and he also was the founder and CTO of Optena Corporation, a pioneer in data center automation and cloud computing 1.0. He also spent more than seven years as Director of Engineering in Server Technologies at Oracle.
Surendra co-authored RFC 5323, contributed to RFC 3648, and he is currently developing and implementing the Lighthouse, Intercloud metadata access protocol. He co-founded the Open Cloud Consortium and is an active researcher on large data sets and data access, security, and integrity issues.
Surendra received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India.
