Eugene Beh

Eugene Beh is a research scientist in the Hardware Systems Laboratory. Eugene’s research interests span electrochemistry and energy storage to organic and organometallic chemistry. He is currently working on several exciting projects: a flow battery that combines grid storage with water desalination, an electrochemical CO2-pumping system, and functional materials for 3D-printing.

Prior to joining PARC, Eugene was a postdoctoral scholar at Harvard, where he developed a neutral pH aqueous flow battery that had exceptional capacity retention properties, as well as Atomic Layer Deposition precursors with very high thermal stability. As a graduate student, he investigated the effects of strong electric fields in electrochemical double layers on chemical reactions.

Dr. Beh earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford, an A.M. in Chemistry from Harvard, and an A.B. in Chemistry and Physics summa cum laude from Harvard. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a recipient of a Stanford Graduate Fellowship. Growing up in Singapore, he won the National Science Talent Search and received two Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Awards. As of January 2018, Eugene holds 4 patents and has authored more than 10 peer-reviewed publications.

Eugene is a space weather enthusiast. He loves to travel and can speak five languages.
