PROFILE:
David Goldberg
David Goldberg has worked on a diverse series of PARC projects and inventions, including collaborative filtering (for which he, with David Nichols and Doug Terry, coined the term in CACM 1992) and user interfaces (most notably developing the single-stroke pen input system that inspired PDA graffiti-entry systems). Dave's current work in bioinformatics for glycomics is being supported by the NIH.
Before coming to PARC, Dave had a short stint as a math professor and then spent 5 years at Sun Microsystems where he was a member of the team that designed and built NFS, the still-ubiquitous network file system. Dr. Goldberg is also an adjunct Professor at the Scripps Research Institute.
