With years of diverse industry experience, PARC’s business development directors bring rich, unique perspectives to PARC. They collaborate directly with our scientists and researchers to help commercialize technology innovations through licensing, joint venture, and spin-off opportunities.
Lawrence Lee works with the Intelligent Systems Laboratory. Prior to joining PARC, Lawrence co-founded Zoundry LLC, one of the first social commerce web services that connected bloggers with online retailers. Previously he served as vice president of business development at Mirror Worlds Technologies, Inc., where he formed strategic partnerships for the venture-backed enterprise and desktop search company that spun off from Yale University. Earlier in his career, Lawrence worked in economic development and was an investor in social ventures. He holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and joint bachelor degrees from Wharton and the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at the University of Pennsylvania.
Nitin Parekh works with the two hardware research laboratories, contributing his knowledge of the semiconductor, MEMS, and photonics industries. During his career, he has raised VC funding for startups, led the acquisition of multimillion-dollar public and private companies, and created business units within large corporations. Before joining PARC, Nitin served as vice president of marketing, business development and applications at NanoNexus, Inc. Previously, he was general manager of Novellus Systems’ Optical Products business unit and led the strategic marketing and business development organization. Nitin held prior management positions at Silicon Systems, Texas Instruments, and Philips Netherlands and has chaired numerous international industry committees. He also currently serves on the board of the non-profit Solutions Benefiting Life, which designs micro-enterprises and filters for safe drinking water in developing countries. Nitin launched his career as a Xerox PARC researcher, and has authored 18 publications and patents. He holds an MBA from UCLA and an M.S. degree from Stanford University.
David Weinerth works with the Computing Sciences Laboratory. Prior to PARC, he helped to establish Technology Ventures Corporation’s California office. As a project manager, he helped early stage technology companies in positioning themselves to be attractive equity funding opportunities. In an earlier role, Dave founded Eberwhite Data Technologies, Inc., in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which provided wireless monitoring solutions for various chemical markets. He also led the automotive business for BOC Gases, and held management and engineering positions at Guardian Industries and the U.S. Army. Dave graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Engineering Management, and has an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.
