Internship Programs

Every year, we invite highly qualified students – graduate, undergraduate, and MBA – to apply to our internship program. As one of the most prolific innovation centers in the world, PARC offers a truly exceptional internship experience.

We consider our interns to be valuable members of our community, and fully integrate them into the daily activities of PARC's highly collaborative, multidisciplinary culture.

"[My PARC internship] was one of the best experiences of my life, personally as well as professionally."
--Permission Name

PARC interns have the opportunity to:

  • work with leading researchers in the physical, computer, biological, and social sciences;
  • pursue independent projects;
  • engage in different stages of the research or business-development pipeline;
  • participate in lab meetings, presentations, poster sessions, and special programs; and
  • receive authorship on publications and/or patents.

A number of PARC employees also started their careers here as interns. We value the new ideas and fresh perspectives students bring, and want your experience at PARC to be educational and extraordinary.

Program Details & Requirements

All PARC internships are paid, and last a minimum of 12 weeks – usually during summer but sometimes extended throughout the year. International students are welcome to apply. PARC offers a diverse array of research projects that interns may get the opportunity to work on.

Graduate Program
Successful applicants typically hold Bachelor's degrees in EECS, Mathematics, Physics, or other fields, and are enrolled in advanced-degree programs by the time internships begin. To help us closely match intern skills with project requirements, we request 2 letters of recommendation (from faculty members or supervisors familiar with your current efforts) that provide information about your accomplishments, work habits, creativity, and/or dedication.

MBA Program
MBA interns work directly with research teams and technology commercialization managers to move research through all stages of the technology pipeline. Successful applicants should be enrolled in a two-year MBA program and demonstrate interest in technology entrepreneurship, commercialization, or research activity. Project assignments will be made jointly by interns and management, and may include assessing early-stage technologies; developing commercialization strategy; facilitating spin-offs; and working on other business strategy processes. Though written recommendations are not required, we do require at least 2 professional references whom we may call (one can be an MBA faculty member). Applicants must include a plain text resume as well as cover letter and be available for phone interviews.

Undergraduate Program
Each year we accept about 10 highly qualified undergraduate students from Cornell, M.I.T., Stanford, and U.C. Berkeley to join our community for the summer. Students with high academic and technical achievement, a solid background in EECS or Physics core courses, and an interest in the research environment are encouraged to apply. Applicants should provide their resume, transcript, and optional letters of reference from significant UROP experience or other relevant jobs. Selected applicants will be invited to on-campus interviews in late February/ early March. Once accepted, undergraduate interns spend their first week meeting researchers and learning about different projects — these interns get to choose which project they want to work on from a broad range of projects proposed by PARC researchers.
