Open leadership: How social technology can transform the way you lead
19 August 2010
George E. Pake Auditorium, PARC
Business has long been built upon the concept of control. Yet social technologies are popping up every day to disrupt this idea and demand a new practice of openness. This phenomenon is changing everything from how we communicate -- both internally and externally with customers, partners, suppliers -- to how we collaborate and co-create products.
The question is: How can you be open and be in command? Charlene Li lays out a new approach that today’s leaders and organizations must adopt for competitive advantage.
Charlene Li is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Open Leadership, and co-author of the critically acclaimed, bestselling book Groundswell -- which was named one of the best business books in 2008.
Charlene is one of the foremost experts on social media and technologies and consults as an independent thought leader on leadership, strategy, social technologies, interactive media, and marketing. Before founding Altimeter Group, Charlene was vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research and a consultant with Monitor Group. She was named one of the 100 most creative people in business by Fast Company in 2010 and one of the most influential women in technology 2009.
A frequently quoted expert, Charlene has appeared on 60 Minutes, The McNeil NewsHour, ABC News, CNN, and CNBC; is frequently quoted by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, Businessweek, USAToday, Reuters, and The Associated Press; and will be appearing at the World Business Forum in October 2010. She has also presented frequently at numerous top conferences.
Charlene graduated from Harvard Business School and also received a magna cum laude degree from Harvard College.
