Congestion on the mobile backhaul is a major threat to the economic health of carriers. PARC’s open source CCN software protocol can shift the backhaul solution cost curve from hardware to software by providing fine-grain caching at the LTE edge, as part of the network architecture, rather than at the more expensive application layer.
