about PARC forum

description

I'll present synthetic and fabrication approaches to new organic, inorganic, and hybrid materials for unconventional opto-electronic applications. Issues I'll cover in this Forum include: 1) synthesis of new high-mobility n-type organic semiconductors, 2) development of solution processes for thin-film deposition of inorganic/hybrid semiconductors, and 3) synthesis of new donor and acceptor polymers for organic photovoltaic applications. These materials are used to fabricate high-performance printed thin-film transistors (with carrier mobilities > 2 cm2/Vs), CMOS circuits with large gains, light-emitting transistors, displays, and organic photovoltaic cells (with certified efficiencies > 7.2%).

presenter(s)

Dr. Antonio Facchetti is a co-founder and the Chief Technology Officer of Polyera Corporation.

He obtained his Ph.D in Chemical Sciences from the University of Milan, and carried out postdoctoral research at the University of California-Berkeley and at Northwestern University (where he is also an Adjunct Professor). His research interests include organic semiconductors and dielectrics for thin-film transistors, conducting polymers, molecular electronics, organic second- and third-order nonlinear optical materials, and organic photovoltaics.

He has published more than 200 research articles, 6 book chapters, and holds about 30 patents. Facchetti received the 2009 Italian Chemical Society Research Prize, the team IDTechEx Printed Electronics Europe 2010 Award, and the 2010 Kavli Fellow.
