Stanford Photonics Research Center 2012 Annual Symposium

18 September 2012
10:30-11:00am
Stanford School of Medicine - Li Ka Shing Conference Center

description

Labs around the world -- from corporate R&D to universities -- are focused on printed electronics because it enables applications that are low-cost, disposable, flexible, and offer new form factors. But turning the components and devices that come out of labs into applications is difficult, because available process solutions deal with components independently – for example they tackle only a transistor or a sensor technology.

PARC has been working on an expanding toolkit for printed electronics devices with a focus on finding compatible solutions to merge various device technologies enabling thus the successful commercialization of early research and development. Together with pioneers of early applications, PARC is demonstrating new solutions for integrating functionalities such as logic, memory, and sensors on the same substrate. Beyond the applications made possible by these integration advances, this work demonstrates what it takes to move from early-stage concept to commercial reality.
