PARC is excited to welcome Sophie Vandebroek and Sepideh Nasiri as we host a ‘fireside chat’ to discuss the professional trajectory for women in STEM. This successful and dynamic duo will talk about the professional climate and culture for women working within STEM fields. They will discuss unique opportunities and challenges and how organizations and peers can work together to encourage women to pursue and succeed in STEM careers. They will address questions including how do we (organizations, schools, families) mentor women in STEM, how do we support the next generation of women in STEM through establishing critical programs today, how to balance work and life, and more. Sophie Vandebroek has been the chief technology officer of Xerox Corporation and the president of the Xerox Innovation Group since 2006. She leads Xerox’s global research labs located in Europe, Asia, Canada and the U.S., including PARC Inc., a Xerox Company that provides custom R&D services.  Dr. Vandebroek is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation. She holds 14 U.S. patents. She is inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame and elected into the Royal Flemish Academy for Arts & Sciences in Belgium.She is a member of the board of directors of IDEXX Laboratories (IDXX) and serves on the advisory council of the dean of Engineering at MIT.  Sophie was born in Belgium where she earned a master's degree in electro-mechanical engineering from KU Leuven. She received her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cornell University. Sophie and her husband enjoy travelling and spending time with their six young adult children.
 
Sepideh ("Sepi") Nasiri is an award winning serial Entrepreneur, founder of Persian Women In Tech and the former Vice President at Women 2.0. Ms. Nasiri started her career as a Co-founder and Managing
Editor of a digital and print Los Angeles Magazine and later joined a number of successful startups in Silicon Valley. Currently, Ms. Nasiri advises early stage startups, is an avid technology enthusiast and mentors globally many female entrepreneurs and founders in technology.
