about PARC forum

description

For one day only, witness the future of American engineering: The Gunn Robotics Team (GRT) is a group of fifty energetic high school students who participate in the annual US FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition. Each year these students have a mere six weeks to design and build a robot capable of playing a complex game and to make a professional-quality computer animation featuring their robot and the FIRST competition.

presenter(s)

The Gunn Robotics Team is completely student-run and their beautiful robot is entirely student built. Perhaps even more importantly, GRT understand the value of giving back to the community. Last fall, they ran a large-scale engineering challenge for more than 200 elementary school students from around the Palo Alto school district. It was the first experience many of these children had with engineering activities. GRT students participate in many other activities as well, including fixing up their own shop and building a thirteen-foot tall hamster wheel.
