Member of the Research Staff: Document Image Analysis
The Palo Alto Research Center seeks a researcher in Computer Vision or related fields to join an established team building systems for advanced document image understanding.
The position requires the ability to formulate theory and algorithms based on document analysis needs, and to build software prototypes that can be integrated into solutions. A Ph.D. or equivalent experience is required. The successful candidate has proven ability to publish in the academic literature and has demonstrated competency in Machine Learning. Specific topics of research may include layout analysis through spatial and feature decomposition, modeling of document genres and collections, parsing of tables and semi-structured forms, analysis of sketches and handwritten notes, and evidential reasoning mixing diverse spatial and textual cues. Strong preference will be given to those candidates whose research background and perspective are compatible with perceptual and statistical approaches. We especially seek candidates demonstrating domain experience in Document Image Analysis informed by advances in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence. In addition, candidates should be comfortable working in concert with others in the development of a large software platform.
