This technical document is a tutorial meant for novice users of FST who are familiar with the basic finite-state tool, publicly available XFST, documented in the 2003 Beesley & Karttunen book on "Finite State Morphology" but who are not yet familiar with the additional capabilities of FST, the PARC-internal version, such as speed/size optimization and pattern matching.
