Industrial Inkjet Printing Systems

PARC scientists are building prototype industrial inkjet printing systems that reduce the cost of electronics applications such as:
-   patterning of PCBs (printed circuit boards);
-   deposition of polymer electronics for low-cost active matrix backplanes;
-   wafer back-end processing.

PARC is actively seeking commercial partners for early testing of these applications.

PARC's industrial inkjet printing system utilizes piezo printheads originally designed for Xerox printing applications. In collaboration with Xerox Corporation, PARC is engineering these high-productivity printheads for use with a variety of new materials.

Features

  • 8-inch width enables high-speed printing on individual substrates or in continuous-roll printing applications
  • Precise drop directionality is ideal for applications that require fine features or high image quality
  • Reliable drops with a range of materials including: waxes, aqueous solutions, and solvent-based materials.

Printhead Performance Specifications

  • Drop size down to 30 pl
  • Firing rates up to 36 kHz
  • Viscosity latitude: 1 – 15 cp
  • Surface tension latitude: 24 – 74 dyne/cm
  • Operating temperature up to 140ºC
  • Excellent directionality
