Palo Alto Research Center: Area Manager Natural Language Theory and Technology group in the Intelligent Systems Lab.
Technical focus on grammar engineering (in LFG), especially the integration of deep and shallow techniques.
The Parallel Grammar and Semantics Project (ParGram/ParSem) builds broad-coverage, industrial-strength LFG dependency grammars using the XLE parser/generator/rewrite system. ParGram is a joint project with university and industry sites around the world. The ParGram English grammar is used by Powerset for consumer search and in the Ambiguity-enabled, Scalable Knowledge Repository project which uses deep processing techniques combined with a large-scale semantic index for question answering.
Symbolic Systems Program, Stanford University: Consulting Associate Professor
2009 Grammar Engineering, Stanford University, with Ron Kaplan (also taught as Ling287 and Ling239e)
