Ajay Raghavan is Strategic Execution Director and manages the Analytics for Condition Evaluation of Systems (ACES) area within the System Sciences Lab. The ACES team is focused on developing cutting-edge analytics and sensing technologies for reliable, safe, and optimal life-cycle management of a broad spectrum of cyber-physical systems. Application areas of interest for health and condition management presently include systems in the energy, transportation, aerospace, defense, and manufacturing sectors in partnership with industry clients such as Panasonic, Leoni, ESI, Hitachi, East Japan Railway, and Xerox; and government agencies such as ARPA-E, DOE Office of Electricity, DARPA, and AFRL.   Ajay has served as Principal Investigator on major cross-disciplinary projects between PARC and industry partners such as LG Chem, GM, Con Edison, GE, VicTrack, and VicRoads to develop and transition fiber optic sensing-based health monitoring systems for as electric vehicle batteries, distribution transformers, and bridge structures. Previously, he led image and video quality research projects for photo enforcement device health management, the technologies from which were successfully field tested by Xerox Services (now Conduent).   Prior to joining PARC, Ajay worked as Lead Algorithms Engineer at Metis Design Corporation, where he was involved in developing compact active sensor systems and algorithms for health monitoring of aerospace structures using guided-wave methods. He has also consulted for various companies and agencies such as Boeing, NASA, Air Force Research Laboratory, Goodrich, ATK, and Vought Aircraft.   Dr. Raghavan obtained his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. He has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Ajay has 16 patents granted and 30+ pending patents; published two book chapters and 40+ papers in leading journals and conferences that have garnered 2000+ citations. He received the “Best Paper” awards at IEEE International Conference on Prognostics and Health Management, and the Prognostics and Health Management Society conference. Ajay was the recipient of a National Science Foundation Fellowship.
