Anne Plochowietz is leading the Photonic Systems area combining photonic research excellence and optical systems modeling and engineering. The area’s research interests span from human health monitoring to structural health monitoring and are rooted in fundamental research to advance optical system and sensor network development.
Anne is interested in leveraging scalable photonic technologies and advanced data analytics for biomedical and optical sensing applications. She worked on a wide range of technologies, including novel single-molecule fluorescence microscopy techniques, a micro-object printer system and a microfluidic high-throughput screening platform for drug discovery.
Dr. Plochowietz earned her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Oxford, and B.Sc. with distinction in Physics from the University of Goettingen. She has authored more than 30 publications in the fields of single-molecule biophysics, biophotonics and microtechnology.
