Gregory Smith is responsible for developing commercial partnerships and creating routes to revenue opportunities across PARC's research initiatives. In this role, Gregory evaluates commercial opportunities that map to PARC's IP portfolio and develops business plans that enable PARC clients to extract value from PARC IP. Gregory has 25 years of experience as a leader in both business IT digital transformation and semiconductor physical sciences. Prior to joining PARC, Gregory was with Hitachi Vantara where he led digital transformation strategy, business development and client engagements delivering Hitachi cloud, analytics, IoT and infrastructure services, products and technologies to enterprise clients that run SAP Enterprise Software. Previous to Hitachi, Gregory was with T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom's global IT consulting, services and outsourcing business where he held executive leadership positions as Vice President of Portfolio and Solution Design, Service Delivery Management and Partner Management. Before T-Systems, Gregory led the Sun Microsystems Global SAP and BI/DW Centers of Excellence. As a Lead Researcher at the Max Planck institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany, Gregory carried out research on Ultrafast Exciton Dynamics in low dimensional semiconductor heterostructures, as well as designed femtosecond lasers and spectroscopic detection methods. Gregory earned a Ph.D. in Semiconductor Physics, Master and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of California, Irvine and a degree in Electrical Engineering from Fullerton College.
