Gregory Smith is Senior Director of Commercial Development and Innovation Partnerships. He is responsible for developing PARC’s commercial business and partnerships bringing together startups, academic, and Fortune 500 clients with PARC’s world-class researchers & capabilities to create breakthrough technologies that can be implemented into a client’s offering or developed into stand-alone businesses. He works directly with clients to discuss and assess their market and technology needs and to develop sustainable, open innovation partnerships that that create client value through research and IP creation backed by PARC’s robust IP portfolio. Gregory’s experience in technology commercialization, strategic partnering, IP, and contracting supports the growth of PARC’s innovation and research business, in alignment with Xerox’s focus on AI, IoT, 3D Manufacturing, Digital Packaging and Healthcare. Prior to joining PARC, Gregory was with Hitachi Vantara focusing on digital innovation and transformation strategy for Hitachi cloud, analytics, IoT and infrastructure services with a focus on clients running SAP Enterprise Software. Previous to Hitachi, Gregory was with T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom’s global IT consulting, services and outsourcing business where he held leadership positions as Vice President of Portfolio and Solution Design, Service Delivery Management and Partner Management. Before T-Systems, he led the Sun Microsystems Global SAP and Business Intelligence Centers of Excellence. As a Lead Researcher at the Max Planck institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany, Gregory carried out research on Ultrafast Exciton Dynamics in low dimensional semiconductor heterostructures, as well as developed femtosecond laser technology and spectroscopic detection methods. Dr. Smith earned a Ph.D. in Semiconductor Physics, Master and Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Irvine, and Electrical Engineering from Fullerton College.
