Hong Yu
Profile
Biography
Job: scientist
Hong Yu is a researcher in the Analytics for Condition Evaluation of Systems (ACES) area within the System Sciences Lab. He is engaged in designing simulation tools that incorporate fault diagnosis into systems modeling. He is also involved in model based diagnosis for complex electromechanical systems.
Hong has a continued research interest in multi-scale multi-domain modeling and simulation since 2009, starting with modeling direct drive spindle with Modelica for his Bachelors thesis. His Ph.D work was focused on coupled thermal-electrical modeling of nonlinear conduction behavior of carbon composites under extreme conditions such as a lightning strike.
Dr. Yu holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China. His other interests include biking, pen-ink sketching and watercolor painting.
