Kalai Ramea manages the Data Science area at PARC. Her research interests include domain-informed machine learning models, big data analytics, applied statistics in multidisciplinary areas.
Prior to PARC, Kalai worked as a researcher at the University of California, Davis, where she developed several numerical models in energy, transportation, and climate to assess long-term policy impacts of energy-efficient technologies human behavior. Kalai also worked as a research fellow at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria. She developed an energy systems model that incorporated consumer purchase behavior to analyze long-term climate impacts. She also has over five years of experience as an engineering consultant, where she led and managed systems engineering and design projects.
Dr. Ramea received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in Transportation Technology and Policy, and an M.S. from the University of Southern California in Civil Engineering. She has several publications in econometrics, quantitative modeling, and data-driven policy analysis.
When not working with data, she draws comics and volunteers at pet rescue centers.
