Michael Benedict is researching different technologies which can enable new regimes of polymer processing and deposition, creating novel micro sensor technologies, and utilizing electric fields for enhanced manufacturing capabilities. Applying thermal management, machine design, and thermodynamics ensures that these important technologies move towards commercial applicability.
Michael’s work history centers on magnetics, thermodynamics, machine and systems design, as well as product life cycle development. Previous to PARC, Michael worked for General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky, developing new and novel technologies as well as enabling lean product development. He is the lead inventor on over 30 patents issued or pending.
Dr. Benedict earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Mechanical Engineering. His focus was on the thermodynamics of magnetic phase change materials coupled with experimental results.
