Nurcan Gecer Ulu is developing computational design tools to realize complexity enabled by new fabrication and materials technologies. Her research interests lie in digital fabrication and computational design from the perspectives of computer graphics, structural analysis, human computer interaction and machine learning.
Prior to joining PARC, Nurcan worked on design and evaluation methods for empowering non-experts in digital fabrication in Visual Design Engineering Lab and Computer Graphics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. She also has a background in controls, and worked as a research engineer at Aselsan in Radar, Electronic Warfare and Intelligence Systems Division.
Dr. Ulu received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. She also holds an M.S. degree from Bilkent University and a bachelor’s degree from METU in the same field.
