PARC Interns Make Their Mark in 2019

Every summer, PARC is pleased to host a group of eager and talented interns, who join our research and business development teams to work on a variety of projects in their respective fields. A majority of the interns join PARC as part of their master’s or doctoral programs.

“For those pursuing a career in research or business, our internship program is a great starting point towards becoming a competitive job candidate,” stated Vicki Brenot, PARC Human Resources. “Our interns have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from some of the best and brightest in their fields. Their experience at PARC really sets the stage for their future careers.”

This year, PARC welcomed a total of 18 interns from around the world, including China, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Sweden and United States.

During their internship at PARC, the interns worked on projects spanning a broad range of disciplines including: computer vision, hyperspectral imaging, integrated and quantum photonics, intellectual capital management, qualitative spatial representation, and modeling of additive manufacturing.

“My experience at PARC has been fantastic,” says PARC Intern, Emanuel Sanne. “What I enjoyed most is meeting all the researchers and getting a better understanding of their field. I have also gained a lot of new insights within Intellectual Capital Management, thanks to my supervisors.”

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with skilled and friendly people from all over the world,” stated PARC Intern, Christos Mavridis. “I think that PARC offers a unique combination of both applied and theoretical research that produces state-of-the-art technology.”

Intern Poster Session

In recognition of the interns’ dedication and hard work, PARC hosted its annual intern poster session, where interns had the opportunity to showcase and discuss their projects with fellow PARC researchers and employees.

“One of the things I’ve appreciated most during my internship is the chance to see all the different roles needed for a company like PARC to work at the intersection of cutting-edge research and commercialization,” says PARC Intern, Sophia Smail. I’ve really enjoyed talking with researchers about their projects and seeing how their work can create value in the market. I’ve learned so much during my short time here, especially thanks to my supervisors, Lisa and Louise!”

“Our interns are creative risk takers. They strive to make the world a better place and we are fortunate that they choose to do it at PARC,” added Vicki Brenot.

As the summer comes to an end, we thank the PARC interns for all of their contributions and wish them well as they continue to make their mark!
