Art @ PARC: “LANDSCAPES 1998-2008”, Oil paintings by Alice Brown
Artist's Statement:
"I have loved exploring many kinds of art over the years: ceramics,
quilting, painting furniture...even a mural on my daughter's apartment wall.
In 1992 when our four children became more independent, I began some classes and workshops, initially working in pastels, charcoal, and acrylics and then later in oils.
Since 1995 I have focused on painting landscape in oils. My favorite subjects are California's blond hills, farms, vineyards, palm trees and the ocean. Favorite locations include Hawaii, the Monterey Peninsula, Costa Rica, Europe and South America.
I love color. I am always looking for the lights, shadows, and shapes which make up a good composition. I prefer to paint outdoors on location and often finish the work in my studio from photographs.
Most importantly, I love the process of painting ....it puts you in
another world, if only for a few hours."
