A "new industries creation strategy" was recently adopted by the Japanese government. International trade expert Naoyuki Haraoka will provide an overview of this strategy, the international implications of it in the context of Japan-China relations, new technology trends and industries that may be created by this policy initiative, and the role of high technology in Japan's economy and society in the next decade, which is hoped to be a prosperous decade.
