Powering the green revolution through photonics
The premier event exploring the business and technical aspects of optoelectronics in the rapidly emerging green market, OPTOmism addresses the growing and critical role of optics and photonics in global efforts to "live green". Green photonics applications and technologies not only include solar energy and high efficiency solid state lighting, but also energy management, smart buildings, metrology, and green processes. Photonic sensors support better utilization of both renewable and non-renewable resources. As we transition to an information-driven society, photonics will also play a key role in green IT, communications, and information display.
The event kicks off with the Executive and Investor Forum, which features senior executives and respected leaders such as Vinod Khosla, and is followed by the 2-day Technical Conference, which includes a broad range of senior technical leaders from industry, government, and academia including two Nobel laureates, Dr. Steven Chu, U.S. Secretary of Energy, and Arno Penzias of New Enterprise Associates. A partnering association in support of this first-time event, PARC will have an exhibit highlighting optical system design expertise for concentrator photovoltaic technology, as well as broad capabilities in optoelectronics.
