The Future of Making Things and the Business of Breakthroughs
Modern technologies such as 3D printing and Printed Electronics, in combination with new funding and innovation models such as crowdsourcing and crowd-funding, are creating radically new capabilities in how things are made and are changing the manufacturing landscape. The result is the possibility of a radical disruption in how things are made. Creating successful business outcomes from breakthrough technologies/disruptions such as these is one of the most difficult innovation challenges. Over PARC’s 45 year history of disruptive innovation, we have learned a few best practices that underlie success in the business of breakthroughs that we will share.
