Pyrolysis for Clean Hydrogen and 2 High-Value Carbon
Clean hydrogen from natural gas
PARC and collaborators are developing a clean-hydrogen alternative based on the pyrolysis of natural gas to produce H2 and sequestered, solid carbon. Our unique approach uses the condensation of zinc to produce a high- surface-area catalyst. Additionally, PARC and UC Riverside are developing a process to upgrade pyrolysis output carbon to a high-value crystalline carbon. This additional revenue stream together with PARC’s efficient process can make pyrolysis a cost-effective alternative to current dirty hydrogen production methods.
