Hurricanes Katrina and Rita wreaked havoc on the Gulf Coast States in the summer and fall of 2005. With all of the publicity on the government’s response, find out what it was really like down in New Orleans. Hear what the victims had to say, how the responders responded to changing scenarios and what can be learned from this lesson. Find out what Garrett did while in Louisiana, and see some photos with the incredible stories behind them.

Presenter(s)

Garrett Brisbee is a model maker at the Palo Alto Research Center. When he's not at PARC, he can be found volunteering at a myriad of various non-profit organizations. From restoring vintage railroad equipment for museums to teaching CPR to low-income families, his weekends rarely allow him to slow down.

Garrett first got involved with the Red Cross many years ago after witnessing their support of local fire victims. After the devastation left from Hurricane Katrina, Garrett volunteered his efforts just in time for Hurricane Rita.
