Rich Green, prominent designer of custom A/V systems for clients such as Sir Georg Solti, Luciano Pavarotti, Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs, and others, discusses how recent developments in home networking technologies have created unique opportunities for energy monitoring and conservation.  Learn about emerging markets and simple solutions for retrofitting and new construction. Rich Green has been an active professional in the audio/video industry since 1978. His system-integration company, Rich Green, Ink, serves the ambitious homeowners of Silicon Valley with an experienced staff of designers, project managers, engineers and technicians. For the past five years, Rich Green, Ink has been voted one of the top 100 design and installation firms in the country. Rich is recognized as one of the foremost A/V system designers, having worked with many prominent clients including Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert, Luciano Pavarotti, Sir George Solti, Rush Limbaugh, Jim Clark, Larry Ellison, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gordon P. Getty, Steve Jobs, Los Alamos National Laboratory and HP Labs.

He also consults with numerous Silicon Valley technology companies in product development and market strategy, with active participation on Technical Advisory Boards for key consumer electronics manufacturers. Rich was involved with two local start-ups resulting in seminal products including ReplayTV (the first PVR) and the iPod.

Rich sits on the Board of Directors of the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), where he founded the Technology Council, which he chairs, along with the Certification Council and the Home-Theater Design Specialty Certification Action Team. He also serves as a Subject Matter Expert and instructor for CEDIA's certification programs. Rich participates in numerous standards committees with CEDIA, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and InfoComm International. Rich is currently the Secretary of CEDIA.

Reporting on new technologies has become a passion for Rich, and his popular class, "Future Technologies: The Inside Scoop from Silicon Valley" has become an international hit at speaking engagements throughout the U.S. and in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, England, and Switzerland.

Over the years, Rich has earned the following certifications: THX Level 1, THX Level 2, Lutron HomeWorks Engineer, CEDIA Installer Level 1, CEDIA Installer Level 2, CEDIA Designer Level 1, CEDIA Home Theater Design Specialist, Imaging Sciences Foundation, ISF-Commercial and California C-7 Low-Voltage Contractor.

Rich earned his bachelor's of science degrees with top honors in physical anthropology and historical geology at Northwestern University, graduating in 1978.  He is also a founding member of the Palo Alto Strategy Studio creating new forms of technology enabled meeting facilitation and conversation tools for global leadership on strategic issues.
