There’s scads of research that shows, on average, at what age peak productivity occurs in various scientific fields. Other dubious research shows that bumble-bees can’t fly and that on average, any single sperm can’t make it to the egg. Let’s not get caught there.
Our creative energy, as an individual, a team, a company, and even as a culture goes through cycles. If you have too little awareness of what causes your fluctuations, you are less likely to cause them to flow in your favor. Bring along your favorite mistake to share. That’s where we’ll start.

James Fadiman is a Professor at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. He received his doctorate in psychology from Stanford University and undergraduate degree from Harvard. He has his own consulting company and works with clients in aerospace, publishing, natural resources, and high-technology industries. He has written or edited eight books in the areas of psychology, health, and personal growth and lectures. His books have been translated into French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. Fadiman has written documentary films, has published two novels, has produced one play, and currently has two shows of his photography hanging in Palo Alto.
