The open enterprise: the risks & rewards of social media at work
Details
PARC Forum
“Generation Facebook” has brought social networks into the corporate environment. Companies are starting to capitalize on the combined power of individualized behaviors, social dynamics, and collaboration. How? What’s going on with the adoption of social media tools and practices in the enterprise? This talk will answer that question, and describe businesses that are exploring the use of Open Enterprise concepts and technologies, including those that haven’t quite succeeded in transforming their organization through deep, enterprise-wide adoption.
Following a 20-minute overview, PARC director of business development Lawrence Lee will join Chris Morace on stage to discuss the benefits and challenges of these applications. What are the Web-based social values that clash or blend with typical enterprise managerial approaches? How should management change to become more consistent with emerging online communities based on collaboration?
