PARC and NCS Partner to Bring Silicon Valley Innovation to Singapore Markets

Press Release

Palo Alto, CA — PARC, a Xerox company, and NCS, a wholly owned information, communications and technology (ICT) services provider of the Singtel Group, jointly announced its partnership to leverage PARC’s innovative R&D environment to collaborate with NCS on technologies to serve customers in Singapore and other markets within the region. NCS and PARC will work together to offer PARC’s Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) technologies with NCS’ applications development, sensor, analytics, and system integration capabilities.

“CBM is an important set of software and sensor technologies that help maintain and improve failing equipment and infrastructure, like trains, roads and bridges,” said PARC Director of Business Development Aki Ohashi. “Of course, as systems around the world age, we need innovative solutions to ensure these systems can continue to operate and remain safe. PARC’s work in this area is helping global companies innovate in the area of systems maintenance, and we look forward to working with NCS to expand our reach.”

PARC has pioneered many technology platforms – from the Ethernet and laser printing to the GUI and ubiquitous computing – and has enabled the creation of many industries. Today, PARC continues the physical, computer, and social sciences research that enables breakthroughs to help grow our clients’ businesses. NCS delivers end-to-end information, communications and technology solutions to help governments and enterprises realize business value through digital transformation and the innovative use of technology.

“NCS and PARC recognize that significant synergies could be realized by creating a strategic alliance,” said Mr. Ferry Chung, Vice President of Smart & Safe City Centre of Excellence and Communications Engineering, NCS. “We look forward to working together to identify projects and explore beneficial ways to collaborate. Clearly, the IoT creates a substantial opportunity in today’s market, and we look forward to providing our customers with innovative ways to take advantage of the digital transformation.”

The reliability and uptime of infrastructure systems is becoming critical. As service budgets continue to be stretched, maintenance, operations, manufacturing, and design teams are under tremendous pressure to maximize system life and utilization without compromising safety and operational uptime. PARC’s CBM technologies empower engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel to improve the reliability and maintainability of critical systems, and transition from conventional schedule-driven inspections to effective CBM.
